Patrick Mahomes was born in Tyler, Texas, on September 17, 1995, to Pat Mahomes (father) and Randi Martin (mother). His father Pat used to be a major league baseball player.

Mahomes attended Whitehouse high school, Smith County, Texas. He began as a baseball player in high school and was a top prospect who was thought to be following in his father’s footsteps, given that his father played baseball until 2009 after finishing as high as no. 25 in 1992.

Mahomes was ranked 419 among talents in 2014 when he got out of high school and was very passionate about American football, although, at the time, he could play basketball too.

His father made sure he had no say on his son’s sports career choice as he knew the kid liked and wanted to play American football. Pat only gave his son all the help he wanted, even if he should have played in major league baseball as well.

Texas Tech College (2014-2016)

He studied at Texas tech university after high school, where he was picked for the 2014 Major League Baseball draft by Detroit Tigers, but he didn’t put the pen down on paper for them because he was more interested in football.
