Ettore Ewen (born March 1, 1986) is a professional wrestler from the United States, as well as a former powerlifter and American football player. He is presently signed to WWE and works under the ring moniker Big E on the SmackDown brand, where he is one-third of the SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Ewen played collegiate football for the University of Iowa before becoming a powerlifter and USA Powerlifting champion. World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)

Developmental Territories (2009 – 2013)

In 2009, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) signed Ewen to a developmental deal. He was given the task of starting his WWE career at Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW).

On December 17, 2009, Ewen made his professional wrestling debut as Big E Langston. Calvin Raines defeated Richie Steamboat and Seth Rollins to win Langston’s first-ever title contest on May 12, 2011.

 

On July 21, 2011, the tag team partner won the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship but was immediately defeated by CJ Parker and Donny Marlow.

In April 2012, Big E Langston defeated Antonio Cesaro at Wrestlemania XXVIII Axxessevent.

On August 1, 2012, this large guy made his NXT debut, defeating Adam Mercer in his first match. Big E Langston began his unbroken winning streak with this match.

Intercontinental Championship (2013 – 2014)

Big E Langston’s feud with The Shield continued when he challenged Dean Ambrose for the WWE United States Championship, which he won by count-out.

After interference from Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, he won by disqualification in a rematch. On November 18, Big E had a championship bout against Axel, in which he defeated Axel. He successfully defended his title against Axel, Damien Sandow, and Jack Swagger in TLC and Elimination Chamber matches, respectively. In a battle royal, Big E lost his Intercontinental Championship to The Mizon.

The New Day (2014 – Present)

Following a string of losses with his tag team, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods decided to join them, forming “The New Day.” Kofi Kingston and Big E defeated Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil in their tag team bout after the involvement of Xavier Woods. On November 28, on an edition of SmackDown, The New Day made their ring debut against Titus O’Neil, Heath Slater, and Curtis Axel.

At Extreme Rules, Big E and Kofi Kingston defeated Tyson Kidd and Cesaro to win the WWE Tag Team Championship for the first time. In a rematch at Payback, they beat them in a two-out-of-three falls match.

By eliminating The Prime Time Players in the Elimination Chamber match, they successfully defended their title. The New Day was defeated by The Prime Time Player in the Money in the Bank match. The New Day won the title for the second time after defeating The Prime Time Players, Los Matadores, and The Lucha Dragons in a fatal four-way tag team battle.
